BURNETT SHINES IN FIRST START

AJ Burnett made his Pirates debut on Saturday night against the Cardinals. It was his first start with the team since his bunting accident at the beginning of spring training. He didn't seem to lose much though in his time off. He pitched 7 scoreless innings for his first win of the season. Adding him to the Pirates already good rotation is just going to make us that much better. Know all they need is to get the offense going and then this team will really take off.

BUCCOS PITCHERS ROLLING, BATS ICE COLD

The Pirates pitchers have had a great start to the 2012 season. They are the only team that has not allowed more than 5 runs in any of their games. Unfortunately, the Pirate offense has yet to score more than 5 runs in any game, which i why their record stands at just 4-7. The bats really need to come alive soon if they want to win games this season. The pitchers are doing more than whats expected of them, its now time for the offense to as well.

Tiger back on top

Tiger Woods is finally back on top of the game of golf. He won his first PGA Tour event yesterday since his very publicized collapse in 2009. I think that Tiger's win is not only going to propel him but also boost the game of golf again. Golf is pretty much nothing without Tiger Woods. He is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world and without him, golf is very boring and bleak. The other golfers may not want to see him back on his game, but the game of golf will be thrilled.

NOW OR NEVER FOR ALVAREZ

Pedro Alvarez is getting ready to start just his second full season in Major League Baseball in 2012, but i believe this is a make or break year for the 2008 second overall pick. He has not performed to his capability up to this point and a lot of Pittsburgh natives are ready to give up on him. I am not one of them but i do believe he has to start showing some improvements this year. He is going to be a big factor to whether the Pirates are successful or not. He needs to start showing some power and cut down on those strikeouts we became accustomed to seeing last year. This is definitely the year in which he has to start living up to the hype he had coming out of college.

BUCS INK CUTCH FOR 6 YEARS

Last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates signed their all-star center fielder Andrew McCutchen to a 6 year deal, worth $51.5 million. I think this is a great step in the right direction for this organization. In the past, the front office was not willing to give long term contracts to their young star players and ultimately ended up losing them to free agency or trading them away for almost nothing. Signing McCutchen shows that they are committed to turning this team into a successful one. With McCutchen and all of the other talented they have groomed, i am hopeful that they will become a championship caliber team in the next few years. #letsgobucs!

LINSANITY

This Jeremy Lin story is really amazing. He has become New York's biggest story in the matter of weeks. This is what i love about sports. That any moment an unknown athlete can rise up and become an international sensation. The only thing i don't like about the situation is how much ESPN will play out this story. Once they get something good they run with it and then its the only thing they talk about. Don't get me wrong, its a great story but don't play it out and make everyone sick of the kid. He is too good of a story for that.

Burnett to the Bucs!

I have been a Pirates fan all of my life and have been waiting for a winning season since i was born. Im excited that the Pirates finally got the AJ Burnett deal done because i think it will help us in the pursuit of that winning season. I think he is a solid 1 or 2 starter and is going to do much better now that he is in the National League. With him along with Jeff Karstens, James McDonald, Charlie Morton, and either Kevin Correia or Eric Bedard, i think we'll have a solid rotation and improve on last years early season success. I really hope that this is finally the year for the buccos!!!
